The Spanish Consulate in Miami calls the Non Lucrative visa the Non Profit visa.
Visa applications are taken on a first come, first serve basis between 8:30 to 11:30 am Monday through Friday. Note that’s a shorter window than their general public office hours. Get there early, preferably before they open, particularly if you’ve got three or more people on your application. Check their holiday calendar before you go.
My research turned up no serious concerns about the application process in Miami except for their stated resolution time of 3 to 6 months. People applying there recently claim that’s not the case.
