I emailed the Chicago Consulate to clarify some questions about their visa application process. They emailed me back to?tell me they’re too busy to answer questions about visas by email. Nice. They were kind enough to tell me that they work with applicants during their appointment, and any missing or incorrect information may be submitted within 10 days. My Application Documents Checklist Chicago details their requirements to ideally minimize missing or incorrect information, but it’s always nice to have a Plan B.
The most challenging piece of your application process for this consulate will likely be the requirement to provide house property or leasing contract. See my tips on this issue?here.
The consulate appears to require applicants to leave their passports with them during application processing time, even if not using the return by mail option. Stated resolution time: 12 weeks. Make international travel plans accordingly.
If you?re familiar with visa applications at this consulate, share your information with me?here. Specific tips on that proof of accommodation requirement would be especially appreciated.
